I went to watch some big wave surfing down the road at Mullaghmore yesterday. There is a big storm off-shore and its making big waves up to 50ft. The guy in the photo was over from Hawaii.

The military archives in Cathal Brugha Barracks have made service files available to family members of former members of the Defence Forces. My great grand father was one of the first to sign up for the free state army so I applied to research his record there. It was a very interesting experience, if you have any relatives that served and you want to find out more about their time there then it’s worth a visit.

My grandmother gave me this painting last week. She painted it 10 years ago when she was 84, oh and she only started painting when she was … 84. What a great gift and what a great reminder that you can do anything at any age if you just try. It might not work out but that doesn’t matter, TRYING is all that matters. Winning or failing are just not relevant.
